Cocobolo Wood – Natural

Cocobolo is a is highly durable, rich and visually beautiful wood. It is very hard, dense and heavy. It has straight grain and usually has fine, uniform texture. The sapwood is almost white and clearly defined.

When newly cut, the heartwood displays a range of colors including rich red, with orange and yellow streaks and zones. On exposure to the air it darkens to deep red or orange red with markings of black and purple.

In addition to furniture and cabinetry, Cocobolo is also used for cutlery handles, fine turnery, chess pieces, and wooden jewelry.

Other common names: Pau Preto, Palo Negro, Granadillo, Nicaraguan Rosewood, Caviuna.
